Seniors at Forest Lake High School were presented with a mock crash demonstration on Wednesday as a reminder of what can happen when young adults mix alcohol and drugs with driving. The dramatization is attempt to pound home the lesson that young people are at risk and that drunk-driving crashes are responsiible for the most deaths of young people. Forest Lake School Resource Officer Matt Smith led and planned the event. Along with the police, others taking part included Forest Lake Fire & Rescue, North Memorial Ambulance/North Air Care, Roberts Family Funeral Home and Dan's Towing. The event is planned each year as seniors prepare to graduate. The gathering was also a time for the Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau to recognize Smith as the 2008 winner of the Jim Trudeau Award presented to the outstanding law enforcement officer.
