Plans are taking shape for the Forest Lake Police Department observance of National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5. National Night Out is an event to promote safety in neighborhoods. The Forest Lake Police Department will take part in more than 20 block parties throughout the city. If you would like to register for an event please email Sgt. Greg Weiss at

or by calling 651-209-9912. The police department will register each block party or advise residents if there is an event within the neighborhood that is already registered. The registration deadline is July 29. Police officers will also be at the Lakeside Memorial Park from 6-8:30 p.m. on Aug. 5. The event in the park will be sponsored by Target Stores and will include crime prevention tips, literature, and an opportunity for parents to bring their vehicle and have a trained officer check the installation of child safety seats.
