There’s been a lot of chatter about Fenway Athletic Park, mainly how the ball fields are not expected to be slated for play until 2010.
Now, some concerned citizens have raised serious issues related to engineering of the baseball field.
Corbett Johnson spoke during the public forum at the Forest Lake City Council’s regular meeting on June 23. He does not feel the fields are up to professional code standards.
According to City Administrator Chip Robinson, staff met on Monday with members of the task force charged with the undertaking of Fenway Athletic Park.
Their concerns are the slope on the adult baseball field is too much and the location of the fences in relation to the playing fields are too far away.
Robinson said the city engineer and architect of the project will be taking another look at whether those concerns are valid, and if so, determine a method to resolve the issues brought to the city council.
Public Works Supervisor Mike Tate, who was at this week’s meeting, said city staff will be talking with leagues who Johnson said would not play at Fenway Athletic Park ball fields because of the condition.
