A 4-1 showing in pool play at the Aberdeen Tournament was good news for the American Legion Post 225 nine. But in Third District play, Post 225 went 1-2 to fall to 4-4 in the league.
At the South Dakota tourney, Post 225 lost its opener to the host team, 4-1, but then rattled off four straight wins.
The Legion team defeated Milbank, SD, 10-1, beat Northville, SD, 8-4, handed Morris a 5-3 loss and edged Detroit Lakes, 11-8.
Trever Welk, Mike Swenson, Nick Charest and Matt Zidar earned mound victories. Kenny Stelter, Kyle Young, Ty Cremisino, Kyle Jensen, Corey Manning, Mike Schultz, Billy Rosenthal and Neil Dunckel carried the big bats in the tourney.
In league action, Post 225 lost to Inver Grove Heights, 5-3 and fell to Woodbury, 7-3.
Forest Lake’s win came over Stillwater, 6-5 as Post 225 pushed home three runs in the seventh to snatch the victory. Dunckel and Young had RBI triples in the seventh while Schultz singled home a run to help Swenson earn the mound win with three innings of relief work.
