Laura Edlund is a champion once again in Lindstrom.
For the third consecutive year, Edlund, 22, of Forest Lake, was the first female to cross the line in the 20th annual Lindstrom Loppet, Karl Oskar 5K on Saturday in Lindstrom.
In the men’s race, with a time of 16:00, Peter Anthony, 27 of Mounds View was the winner, narrowly edging out John Leaf, 21, of Center City, who posted a time of 16:18.
Both runners outpaced Zach Waldoch, 17, Forest Lake, who finished in 16:53 in the annual event hosted by Fairview Lakes Health Services.
Anthony also won the Loppet in 2006.
Of the approximately 550 people who registered to enter the race, 512 runners and walkers of all ages crossed the finish line in this year’s event, setting a new record.
Proceeds of the Loppet support the Virginia Elizabeth Ferguson Nursing Scholarship, discount bike helmets and other youth health-related programs.
“Sincere thanks go to the many community businesses that each year provide financial assistance, refreshments and other services to help make the race possible,” said co-chairmen Carla Norelius and Leanne Roggemann of Fairview Lakes Health Services.
Listed below are the first, second and third place medal winners in each age category.
