Tuesday, 29 July 2008

A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Forest Lake was seriously hurt Saturday night after he crashed his cycle on TH-97 at July Avenue N., police in Forest Lake said. Chief of Police Clark Quiring said officers were investigating a public report of a group of seven motorcycles driving at high rates of speed in the southeast area of the city when the crash was reported.

Quiring said a Forest Lake officer had stopped three cycles on TH-97 at Imperial Avenue and was issuing a warning to the bike operators when the crash was reported at 9 p.m.

Officers responding to TH-97 at July Avenue found the injured man in the ditch on the south side of TH-97. He was airlifted by North Air Care to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale with severe head injuries, the chief said. On Monday the extent of the man's injuries was not known, the chief said.
