Filings have been reported for a number of area city councils where elections will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 4. In most cases, two council members and the mayor are up for election. The one exception is Wyoming where all five council seats will be on the ballot.
As of noon on Tuesday, incumbent Wyoming Mayor Sheldon Anderson has filed for reelection to a two-year term. Filing for council seats are Frank Storm, Jerry Owens, Roger Elmore and Michael Soule. Owens and Elmore were serving on the Wyoming Town Board when the merger of the city and town was completed last month.
The top two vote getters will win four-year terms while the third and fourth vote getters win four-year terms.
In Columbus, Mayor Mel Mettler has filed, along with incumbent Councilmen Denny Peterson and Jeff Duraine.
In Scandia, Mayor Dennis Seefeldt has filed, but no council filings have taken place.
In Forest Lake, Mayor Stev Stegner has filed for reelection. Filing for council seats are incumbent Judy Bull and newcomer Jackie McNamara.
In Linwood Township, Marie Holm has filed for Seat E, Mike Parker has filed for Seat C and Philip Osterhus for Seat B on the town board.
The filing period closes on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
