The sounds and smells of a train steam locomotive can be found at the Ironhorse Central Railroad Museum north of Scandia on Saturday. The Thompson family and friends will present the museum’s annual Autumn Leaves Special from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring steamer No. 4.
The steam day will offer the public tours of the railroad museum and train rides pulled by the steam engine which is the centerpiece of the museum.
Along with concessions, visitors will also be able to purchase the 2006 book, “Taylors Falls & Lake Superior Railroad,” by Richard Thompson and Steven Monson. The book, regularly $49.95, will be sold for $39.95 this day only. It details the history of the train line that once ran from Wyoming to Taylors Falls.
Admission to Saturday’s show is $9 for adults and $6 for seniors 60 and older and kids 2 to 12. Children under 2 are free. For more information, call the museum at 651-336-4531 or visit www.ironhorsecentral.com.
The museum is located at 24880 Morgan Ave., Chisago City. For directions, call the number above or check the museum website.
