A burglar and vandals were busy in Forest Lake on Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. Police in Forest Lake are investigating a burglary at Lakeside Gas and Grocery, 408. S. Lake St. early Thursday and a Wednesday vandalism or attempted burglary at the now closed Maroon and Gold Ice Arena on SW 4th. At 4:41 a.m. on Thursday, police were called to Lakeside Gas and Grocery where they found the front door had been smashed in. A video camera inside the store confirmed that a single man wearing a mask entered the store with a backpack. The man filled the backpack with cigarettes and left. Police have not received a report on the quantity of tobacco products that were stolen. On Wednesday night, police were notified by an alarm company that someone had attempted to enter the old arena between 6-7 p.m. A window in a back door to the old facility had been broken. Matrix, the city's police canine officer, was used to search the building. Police said on Thursday they do not believe entry to the building was gained. |
