Menne may sue city over tax bill PDF Print
Monday, 31 December 2007
If Wyoming City Council moves forward with plans to certify Gary Menne’s unpaid storm water assessment fee to property taxes in 2008, it could face a lawsuit. That would mean Menne could end up suing the council on which he is an elected member. Menne sent a letter to the city on Dec. 20 with a list of documents that he desires relating to the storm water program. The letter also points to a possible legal action against the city. “Any attempt to put the storm water tax on the property taxes will be answered with the courts to be removed until litigation has been resolved,” he wrote in a letter to the city. The Wyoming City Council voted last month to certify all unpaid bills such as the storm water assessment fee for collection as part of the property taxes. Menne’s assessment was placed on the Chisago Countyy tax roles on Friday, Dec. 28, a city official said. Menne owes $2650 to the city for the delinquenbt assessment, plus a 15 percent penalty bringing the total amount due to $3047.50.
