Only one person has tossed their hat into the ring to be considered for appointment to the Forest Lake City Council to fill Bo Bogotty’s seat.
City Administrator Chip Robinson said that Angela Schreader has expressed an interest to serve on the council on a interim basis.
Candidates are asked to submit a letter of intent and a short resume, he said.
Robinson said the council can declare Bogotty’s seat vacant during their regular meeting on Jan. 14, which is the deadline for those wishing to be considered.
By law, the council can appoint a temporary replacement 90 days after Bogotty attended his last meeting.
The councilman is now in a rehabilitation facility after suffering a severe stroke in September.
Robinson said the council will conduct interviews with candidates in an open meeting during their regular meetings held on the second and fourth Monday of each month. The council will appoint someone at the Jan. 28 meeting, he noted.
By law, the replacement would serve on an interim basis and must give up the seat if Bogotty is able to resume his duties.
In addition, the position selected could not go on the ballot in the 2008 city election.
According to Schreader’s resume, she served on both the planning commissions in Wyoming Township from 1997-2001 and in Forest Lake from 2004-2005.
