If you are an expecting mother less than three months along, Lakes Life Care Center has an offer for you: Get a free limited obstetrical ultrasound as well as a gift basket just for volunteering to have your womb scanned.

After four years of saving, the non-profit organization was finally able to purchase an ultrasound machine to be used to confirm pregnancy, not as a diagnostic tool.

As such, they must complete 50 practice scans on women in their first trimester. The nursing staff will undergo training Jan. 13-21. According to Nurse Manager Mary Stolz, Lakes Life Care still has slots remaining. Appointments are available from 1-5 p.m. next week and all day the following week.

“It will be a very positive experience,” she said.

Not only can volunteers help the center accomplish its goal, but expecting mothers have an opportunity to view their baby  in the womb before the woman can even feel the fetus moving, which is usually around 20 weeks.

Visit Lakes Life Care Center at its new location, 840 W. Broadway Ave., Suite 100 – almost directly across the street from the White Castle Restaurant.

For more information or to make an appointment, call 651-464-4340.
