Sled Dog Race volunteers

It should be an action-packed weekend February 1, 2 and 3, 2008. The Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race in Bayfield Wisconsin, invites all to volunteer and experience the Midwest’s largest and most exciting sled dog races. Over 100 sled dog teams come to Bayfield to compete in this top event. Volunteers can pick their job — handle dogs by helping mushers hook up their teams, or help bring teams up to the starting chute. Volunteers may also choose to assist at check points, communicate via radio on teams’ progress, guide teams to stay on course, or help enter final times after the race. This opportunity will give people the chance to experience Bayfield in a completely different way: as a part of an annual community event. Select a wonderful vacation package that combines the excitement of the sled dogs, and also time to enjoy the magic of the snowy season in the north woods. Packages include; two or three nights lodging, a spaghetti dinner on Friday night, a “Musher Mixer” on Saturday night, and breakfast each morning. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work on one or both days of the races. These packages are priced at $250 per couple for two nights and $325 per couple for three nights. For more information on the Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race or other Bayfield events, please visit www.bayfield.org or call 800-447-4094.
