There was a lot of excitement at the Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau on Jan. 4 as the thermometer tallying the 2007 fund raiser was completely filled in, and then some. According to Development Manager Pam Trudeau, year-end gifts from Weekes Forest Products Inc., First State Bank of Wyoming, Patriot Bank Minnesota as well as 81 designated donors through the Greater Twin Cities United Way and two new anonymous donors pushed the agency over it’s community fund raising goal for the first time in the agency’s history.
The community giving in 2007 pushed the campaign over $100,000.
“This is truly a benchmark moment for our fund raising efforts,” Executive Director Jeanne Walz said of the accomplishment.
“This has been a tough year to raise money, and YSB is only one of many great area organizations requesting support. Our programs for youth and families could not continue without generous support from individuals, businesses, civic organizations and faith communities in our service area.”
After last year’s record setter, YSB’s goal in 2008 is $114,000. Trudeau noted that the need for support is greater than ever.
Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau is a non-profit organization, serving Forest Lake Area School District communities in Washington and Anoka counties, and all communities in Chisago County.
The mission of YSB is to ensure the success of youth.
Programs and services provided reflect the belief that youth will be successful when relationships are strong, families are involved, communities are caring, harmony is restored and youth have the skills and opportunities for citizenship.
