A 6-2 victory over Andover on Tuesday night has moved Forest Lake into a commanding position in the Section 7AA baseball tourney. Trevor Welk worked five innings to get the win for the Rangers while Mike Swenson pitched the final two innings to nail down the victory and keep Forest Lake undefeated in sectional play. A two-run third inning gave Forest Lake the lead for good as the Rangers played before a large crowd at The Ballpark at Schumacher Field in Forest Lake.

The victory keeps Forest Lake in the winner's bracket. Coach Brian Raabe's team will play its next game on Friday at 2 p.m. against the winner of the Andover-Chisago Lakes contest. Both teams have one defeat in the tourney. The loser is out but the winner will move on with the hope of knocking off Forest Lake twice on the Rangers' home diamond. A second game on Friday would be played at 5 p.m., if necessary. A Class AAA state tournament berth is at stake.
