The Forest Lake City Council will be interviewing 14 candidates later this month in order to fill a seat vacated by Bo Bogotty.
The council will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31 to interview those candidates who have tossed their hat into the ring to be considered for the appointment.
The candidates are Bruce Anderson, Brian Bernier, Earnest Caine, David Classen, Ray Daninger, Ed Eigner, Mike McCann, Richard Damchik, Jackie McNamara, Lloyd Nelson, Cameron Piper, Angela Schreader, Christopher Sloneker and Ken Urquhart.
At the Jan. 14 meeting, the council declared Bogotty’s seat vacant. The councilman, who began serving his four-year term in 2007, is now in a rehabilitation facility after suffering a severe stoke in September.
By law, the governing body can appoint a temporary replacement 90 days after Bogotty attended his last meeting. Also, the replacement would serve on an interim basis and must give up the seat if Bogotty is able to resume.
In addition, the person selected could not go on the ballot in the 2008 city election.
City Administrator Chip Robinson said that it is great to see so much interest from the public. Candidates were asked to submit a letter of intent and a short resumé.
