The Forest Lake boys Alpine ski team is 2-0 in the Suburban East Conference standings, handily winning their first meets against Mounds View, 41-14, and Hastings, 40-15.
In the Mounds View contest on Jan. 3, Rangers Brett Stolberg, Shane Sampair and Scott Brunjes swept the first three positions.
The trio also finished best among the Ranger racers in the Hastings meet on Jan. 10, with freshman Sampair celebrating his first-ever conference win.
Brunjes and Stolberg took third and fourth in the Hastings meet. Also picking up valuable points in both competitions were Tyler Brunjes, Kevin Gamelin and Kevin Schmidt.
The Forest Lake girls came out strong against Mounds View, with a 36-19 victory, but had trouble staying on the course against Hastings and lost, 44-11.
Rangers Carly Bass, Nicky Kumerow and Ciara Robinson took the top three spots against Mounds View, with Krista Kirchner and Kara Gamelin picking sixth and seventh.
In the Hastings meet, both Bass and Kumerow slipped off course and didn’t finish. Robinson’s fifth-place finish — along with seventh place by Kirchner and 10th place by Mallory Messin — were the only points the girls could muster against Hastings.
