Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming is kicking off its month long 10 year anniversary celebration with a Red Cross blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1.
All presenting donors will receive a free Red Cross T-shirt and automatic entry in a drawing for a $25 gift card. To make an appointment, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543) or visit givebloodgivelife.org.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
In additio, donors must be at least 17 years old and must weigh at least 110 pounds.
The American Red Cross has partnered with Fairview Lakes Medical Center to hold blood drives for patients in need since it opened in 1998. Through those years, generous Fairview Lakes employees and community members have donated roughly 3,600 pints of blood. The community now donates about 400 pints of blood each year.
Fairview Lakes sponsors six drives a year on the first Friday of every other month beginning in February.
Michael Just of Rush City and Daniel Johnson of North Branch are two top donors at Fairview Lakes’ Red Cross blood drives in the past seven years. Although both Just and Johnson give blood at other drives and have given a total of 127 (15.88 gallons) and 126 pints (15.75 gallons) of blood respectively, they each give often at the Fairview Lakes’ drives.
The Red Cross thanks Just and Johnson as well as all blood donors who take the time to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life at the Fairview Lakes Medical Center blood drives. The non-profit organization also thanks Fairview Lakes and congratulates them on 10 years of outstanding service to the community.
Fairview Lakes Medical Center is located at 5200 Fairview Blvd. in Wyoming.
