FL Council sets date for board of equalization appeal meeting at city hall on April 21

Unhappy with your property’s assessed valuation?
Pencil in the annual Board of Appeal and Equalization & Open Book meeting from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 21. The Forest Lake City Council set the date of the local appeal process for 2009 payable taxes during their regular meeting on Jan. 14.
The payable 2009 taxes are equated from values set on each property as of January 2008, which are based on sales during Oct. 1, 2006 to Sept. 30, 2007.
In other news from last week’s meeting, the council approved a Outdoor Entertainment Permit for Tom Voelk, 21921 Harrow Ave., to hold a neighborhood event on July 5 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. They also accepted anonymous donations in the amount of $1,000 each for both the Police and Fire departments.
City Administrator Chip Robinson noted that Finance Director Ellen Paulseth was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
The council also approved the a two year employment contract from 2008-2010 for Fire Chief Gary Sigfrinius. Councilwoman Susan Young abstained from the vote.
