A 33-year-old East Bethel man suspected of killing his girlfriend in her East Bethel home on Saturday is in the hospital after attempting suicide.
On Tuesday, Anoka County authorities charged Raymond Robideau, 33, with second-degree intentional murder. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
According to an Anoka County Sheriff’s Office report, officers responded to a call at 12:01 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 26 at a residence in the 22800 block of Erskine Street NE in East Bethel.
Sharon Chouinard, 35, was found dead in her bedroom by a 14-year-old family member, according to Capt. Robert Aldrich.
Robideau was found at a home of an acquaintance in Princeton at approximately 1:30 p.m. when Princeton firefighters and police responded to a report of a fire in the 800 block of Oak Circle.
According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Robideau had apparently cut his wrists and set fire to both himself and the home. Robideau was severely burned in the incident, Aldrich said.
