Veterans who like to eat may want to head to Forest Lake on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Three area businesses have joined in two special events that will offer free foods to past veterans and those currently serving in uniform, either on active duty or in the reserve or guard forces.

At any time during the day on Nov. 11, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar, 335 SW 12th St., is offering veterans a free meal.

A breakfast opportunity is also in the offering.

Roberts Family Funeral Home and Key’s Cafe of Forest Lake will be honoring veterans with a complimentary “Early Risers” breakfast on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Key’s.

Veterans can pick up their breakfast tickets (limit of two) at the funeral home, 555 SW Centennial Drive, to be redeemed between 7-10 a.m. on Veteran’s Day. A total of 100 breakfast tickets will be available.

For more information, call Roberts Family Funeral Home at 651-464-4422.

Applebee’s in Forest Lake will be honoring any veteran or service member with the free meal during regular business hours on Nov. 11.

A valid veteran or active duty identification or other proof of military service will be required. Former service members may present their VFW or American Legion organization cards to qualify.

The six meals that veterans will be offered include: three-cheese chicken penne, fire pit bacon burger, fiesta lime chicken, chicken tenders platter, a seven ounce house sirloin steak and the oriental chicken salad.

The offer is for dine-in only visitors. Beverages and gratuity are not included in the free offer.

For more information, call Applebee’s at 651-464-6778.

Veterans who would like a light evening meal can make their way to American Legion Post 225, 355 W. Broadway Ave., where food will be served at the conclusion of the community Veteran’s Day program on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
