A community program honoring veterans is on tap in Forest Lake on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

American Legion Post 225, 355 W. Broadway Ave., will host the community Veteran’s Day program at 6:30 p.m. The program is a joint effort between the American Legion and VFW Post 4210 in Forest Lake.

Lance Meier, a social studies teacher at Century Junior High School in Forest Lake and an armed forces veteran, is the guest speaker for the evening.

The program will also feature remarks by Legion Commander Don Skow and VFW Commander Lee Goodyear. The traditional rifle salute and playing of taps will be part of the program.

A light lunch will be served at the conclusion of the program.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend, said Ron Miller, Post 225 chaplain. Miller will serve as master of ceremonies for the Nov. 11 program.

It will be a busy day for members of the VFW and American Legion.

The joint color guard from the Legion and VFW will be at Forest Lake High School for its student-led Veteran’s Day program at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 11. Meier will also speak at the school program.

The program will be attended by the 1700 high school students. It will feature student speeches and musical selection.

A limited number of seats are available for the public, but reservations are required.

Veterans will be at Birchwood Health Care Center in Forest Lake for a 2 p.m. program and at the Meadows on Fairview assisted living facility in Wyoming for a 3 p.m. program.
