A man believed responsible for carjacking a vehicle in Forest Lake in the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 8 has been arrested. Chief of Police Clark Quiring said Brian James Greene, 25, of 1001 SW 7th Ave. was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 14 after police executed a search warrant at his Forest Lake apartment. Information provided to police by the public led them to Greene's apartment, Quiring said. An iPod reported stolen from the vehicle was found in the apartment, the chief said. The carjacking was reported shortly after 1 a.m. on Nov. 8 as a woman who had ended her shift at Applebee's in Forest Lake was walking to her 2004 Pontiac Grand Am in the Target parking lot. A man approached the woman and a co-worker, pulled a gun and took the car. It was recovered later that day north of Pine City.
Quiring said Greene has been charged with two felonies, aggravated robbery in the first-degree and theft of a motor vehicle. The chief said police now believe that Greene allegedly brandished a BB gun in the process of taking the vehicle. As of Monday, Greene remained in the Washington County Jail in Stillwater. Quiring said police believe the car was taken to provide transportation to a cabin near Pine City. The vehicle may have engine damage. The two women were unharmed in the incident.
