In similar fashion to its  two previous meets, the Forest Lake swimming and diving team was able to look beyond the final score and take note on how they’re improving.

“Woodbury was a good meet. We held up well to the competition,” head swim coach Barbara Vailodash said.

The Royals were the latest Suburban East Conference opponent on the calendar, and they were able to head home Jan. 31 with a 90-80 victory over the Rangers.

Those 10 points might have been made up on the diving board, but now we’ll never know.

Woodbury would not dive at Forest Lake’s Southwest Junior High pool.

“For the first time ever, since we’ve been diving against them, (they) refused to sign waivers to dive at our pool,” head diving coach Deb Welch said. “It was very disappointing, since each year our divers have chosen to sign a waiver to dive at their high school pool.”

With the evening already designated as Parent’s Night, Forest Lake divers elected to stage an exhibition. They entertained the crowd with a variety of dives that will not likely see competition, but they were fun to watch.

The Rangers close out the regular season with a home meet on Thursday against Cretin-Derham Hall.

Sections begin Thursday, Feb. 21 and run through Saturday, Feb. 23.
