The dollars continue to roll in for the Forest Lake Teen Center Extreme Fundraiser led by Wyoming Mayor Sheldon Anderson. Anderson is living in the Wyoming Hilton, a tent on top of the Wyoming City Hall until $35,000 is raised to support the ISD 831 Community Education-sponsored teen center located at the Cental Learning Center. Anderson will mark a full week of rooftop living on Saturday.
So far, the fund-drive has collected $25,000, Anderson reported on Friday. Ted Phillips, a former Wyoming councilman, turned in $1285 collected from businesses in Forest Lake. Current Councilman Tom LaBarre and his wife donated $500 to the effort, Anderson reported. Premier Marine of Wyoming also contributed $500 to the cause on Friday, Anderson reports.
With subzero temperatures and strong northwest winds predicted for Saturday, Anderson is hunkering down in the Gander Mountain-donated tent and relying on his toasty warm sleeping bag while making the best of the situation. He hopes to collect the final $10,000 in the next few days.
