Nine days into his self-imposed exile on the roof of Wyoming City Hall to raise $35,000 for the Forest Lake Teen Center, Mayor Sheldon Anderson was able to step foot on solid ground after surpassing the goal on Sunday, Feb. 10.
The total is estimated to be close to $40,000. He survived subzero temperatures and strong northwest winds over the weekend in a tent donated by Gander Mountain.
Anderson said they've been able to keep the doors open at the Teen Center, a program operated by ISD 831 Community Education. However, the focus now is to better the facility in order to attract and keep students interested, he added.
