Sandra Staub, a Grade 1 teacher at Linwood Elementary, has been awarded a Forest Education Grant from Minnesota Forest Industries. The grant funds will be used to purchase a handicapped cart to transport students to the school forest. The program was created by Minnesota Forest Industries to help schools fund classroom projects and activities, including field trips, on topics related to forestry or forest products in Minnesota. Staub is one of 18 teachers in Minnesota to receive funds through the program. In all, $5390 was distributed to further forestry education in our state. “We’re pleased to continue this successful program of helping teachers around the state,” said MFI Executive Vice President Wayne Brandt. “The forest is integral to our way of life here in Minnesota, and where there’s a teacher who’s talking to their students about that, we want to help.” Minnesota Forest Industries is an association representing the state’s forest product companies. MFI encourages conservation, proper forest management and industry development.
