To fight the war on drugs, local students created magnificent artwork and thought provoking ideas as part of the 2007 Chemical Health Week Nov. 11-18, 2007.
Winners from both of the Columbus and Forest Lake Lions Drug Awareness Poster Contest have been announced. Columbus 5th grader Tasha Montzka took home a $50 U.S. savings bond after being named a District level winner.
Winners of the Columbus Lions poster contest received $30 for 1st Place, $20 for 2nd Place and $10 for 3rd Place.
Grade 1: Jessica Overland (1st), Jaedan Vang (2nd) and Kamra Heldman (3rd).
Grade 2: Alicia Scharrer (1st), Macy Roberts (2nd) and Alexis Seffeyn (3rd).
Grade 3: Neil Lau (1st), Mason Horne (2nd) and Miranda Overland (3rd).
Grade 4: Sarah Neuman (1st), Tianna Friese (2nd) and Jenny Birkholz (3rd).
Grade 5: Tasha Montzka (1st), Tierney Miller (2nd) and Chris Wallner (3rd).
Grade 6: Danny Wassman (1st), Matt Maassen (2nd) and Sadie Gadberry (3rd).
Winners of the Forest Lake Lions poster contest received $50 for 1st Place, $30 for 2nd Place and $20 for 3rd Place.

Grades 3 and 4: Dominic Palomino (1st), Lakes International Language Academy; Raelene Renard (2nd), Linwood Elementary and Jaime Hunt (3rd), Linwood Elementary.
Grade 5: Nick Hendry (1st), Maranatha; Amberleye Mathees-Iwan (2nd), Forest View Elementary and Allison Long (3rd), Forest View Elementary.
