The Johanneson Companies of Bemidji, owner of Marketplace Foods in Forest Lake, has purchased Ogle’s Foods of Grand Rapids, and Ogle’s Family Foods of Grantsburg, WI. Keith Johanneson, president, said the company completed the acquisition on Feb. 11 from Bruce and Karen Ogle. The Ogle family has been involved in the supermarket business in Grand Rapids for over 21 years. Kurt Ogle presently is manager of the store and will continue on as the store director with the Johanneson Companies. Johanneson Companies has been in business since 1943, and operates 23 retail operations in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. The company employs approximately 1400 associates. Johanneson’s will operate the stores under the Marketplace Foods name, and the Ogle name will be part of the marketing plan for the Grand Rapids location. The company plans to retain most if not all employees at both locations. The store in Grand Rapids will be undergoing remodeling and facility updating in March. Johanneson Companies will be affiliated with Nash Finch Company, headquartered in Minneapolis.
