Washington County Commissioners, acting as the Washington County Regional Rail Authority, have approved resolutions of support for federal funding of three transit programs in the county. The rail authority supports federal funding proposals for the Rush Line Corridor which runs north through Forest Lake, the Red Rock Corridor which runs northwest into St. Paul from Red Wing, traveling through the Cottage Grove area, and a high speed rail project running along the Red Rock Corridor through La Crescent and toward Chicago. Proposals for Rush Line include $5 million for design and construction of park and rides, bus service implementation and property acquisition. Red Rock Corridor proposals include $2 million for design, property acquisition, construction of park and pool lots and bus service implementation. Some $8 million is sought in support of high speed rail design, property acquisition and construction between St. Paul and LaCrescent. The resolutions are included as part of request packets which will be submitted to congressional offices in late February or early March
