Every Friday morning for over 10 years, Jeff Lynn has eaten breakfast at the Scandia Calf-“A.”
And while it’s delicious food, each week the meal is just as memorable as the last. But Feb. 22 was certainly no ordinary Friday for the Scandia resident.
He was the lucky customer to be served the cafe’s 1,000,000 egg. Scandia Calf-“A” owner Holly Beyl prepared Lynn’s egg overhard with a side of ham, hashbrowns and toast.
When asked how it tasted, he replied “Egg-cellent.”
Lynn arrived at the right time too as he was delayed at the car wash. He works at Crabtree’s and Garden Gate in Scandia.
“And I wasn’t going to come today,” Lynn said.
Beyl said that a picture of Lynn in an egg frame and a plaque inscribed with his name would be mounted on a wall at the Scandia Calf-“A” to commemorate the milestone.
He was also presented with a T-shirt made especially for the occasion, a gift certificate to the cafe and a granite trophy with a marble egg nestled inside.
“I kind of had a feeling it was going to be a regular served the 1,000,000 egg,” said Beyl.
She noted that Oct. 1, 2007 marked the cafe’s 15th anniversary.
