The food service department of ISD 831 has removed 11 cases of beef from school kitchens, Carissa Fredrickson, communications spokesperson for the district said this week. The district had placed a hold on beef products supplied through the Westland/Hallmark Meat Company until further information on the meat could be obtained. On Monday, Fredrickson said a total of 11 cases of raw beef that were initially placed on hold are being destroyed and disposed of as instructed per the USDA/Minnesota Dept. of Ed/Food and Nutrition Service. All remaining beef products used for the food service program in the district have been verified and were not processed from beef supplied from the Westland/Hallmark Meat Company. She said the district has completed a thorough inventory of all meat products on hand in district kitchens.
