Linwood Town Board supervisors on Feb. 25 referred a revised sketch plan for an eight-lot development back to the planning commission for review.
The plan was submitted by Lonnie Lundberg for an area west of Pet Lake, north of Fawn Lake Road (CR-26). Adjacent landowners objected to the plan because any future connecting street would severely limit their development potential of their land.
Lyle Reynolds showed a revision of the sketch plan originally presented to P & Z, incorporating the commission suggestions. Reynolds requested the board act on the revised plan which incorporated the suggestions.
The newer plan made an adjustment to the size of one lot, by moving a street 50 feet west, to balance the size of lots and shift the street west also. Mike Parker, chairman, told Reynolds the P & Z still needed to look at the revision, even though it seemed to follow the recommendation. The board voted 4-0 to send the plan back to the P & Z. Supervisor Howard Holm was absent.
Other approvals
A sketch plan for a garage and loft was approved for Bill and Sherie Karnes on 215th Avenue NE.
Karnes wants to create extra space for family visiting on weekends and during summer. While there will be plumbing in the loft, there are no plans to use or convert it into permanent housing. The board approved the sketch plan with restrictions.
Value of a 40-acre parcel owned by Allen Grinde has been appraised at $67,500, according to Attorney Gerald Randall. The land abuts the west side of the Linwood Community and School Forest.
Earlier this year, Grinde approached officials about selling or donating his land to the township. As part of a deal, he is requesting $700 reimbursement for the appraisal.
Before considering the proposal officials have to know whether or not the 2009 levy is approved, said Supervisor Phil Osterhus. Board members agreed to table further discussion until March 28.
The board is pursuing the development of 205th Ave. as a minimum maintenance road, which could be used as a trail for ATV travel. Supervisors will work with the DNR.
Supervisors confirmed reappointments of five park commission members. Jim Garrison and Mike Halliday have terms through 2010. Kevin Hubbard, Brian McCullough and Dennis Rodacker have appointments through 2011.
Annual meeting
The Linwood annual meeting is scheduled 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 at the Linwood Senior Center.
Supervisors will be prepared to summarize departmental budgets and answer questions.
The proposed 2009 budget is $1,728,973. The requested levy for 2009 is $1,437,000. This is $1000 more than what was requested in 2008. Residents who attend the meeting vote on the 2009 levy.
