Freedom Fish Fry March 14 is for Legion 4th of July fund PDF Print
Wednesday, 05 March 2008
Friday, March 14 will be a night to dine on fish and watch some Forest Lake notables get pies tossed in their faces.

American Legion Post 225 will host its 4th of July Freedom Fish Fry Fund-raiser from 4-8 p.m. that night.

The dinner is in concert with a silent auction and the pie throwing event that was initiated at a January fund-raiser.

All proceeds raised on March 14 will go to support the Legion’s 2008 Fourth of July celebration.

This year’s Independence Day celebration will carry the theme, “Land of the Free Because of the Brave.”

Tickets for the fish dinner are $7 each.

The silent auction will include a wide list of top prizes, including three one-hour rides in an Air Force flight simulator. Bids on auction items will be taken from 4-7 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the crowd will gather for the pie-throwing.

Slated to pose for the cream pies in the face are: Mayor Stev Stegner, Councilwoman Susan Young, School Board President Bill Bresin, Forest Laker owner Pete Paidar, and other notables from the area.

Music for the evening will be donated by The Deuces Wild Band. The band will play from 7-10 p.m.

For more information about the March 14 event, to make a donation to the celebration fund-drive, or to contribute an item for the silent auction, contact Krista Richter, parade chair and celebration coordinator at 651-214-7745 or the American Legion 651-464-2600.
