Two month-long drug investigations in Forest Lake have led to a pair of arrests.

Chief of Police Clark Quiring said two women in unrelated incidents were arrested on felony drug charges of possession of narcotics on Wednesday. The arrests were carried out by officers of the Washington County Drug Task Force and city officers, the chief said.

In both cases, officers executed drug search warrants and found what is believed to be methamphetamine, Quiring said.

At 3:04 p.m., officers entered a home in the Forest Ridge Townhome complex in the 1200 block of SE 4th St. where a 40-year-old woman was arrested. A second adult female at the home was not charged.

One child was also in the home and two others later arrived from school. The three were placed in the custody of the second female, the chief said.

At 4:05 p.m., a second drug search warrant was used in the 800 block of SW 7th Ave. A 40-year-old woman who lived in the duplex unit was arrested on the probable cause drug charge.

As in the first raid in Forest Lake, a second adult female was in the home, but not charged. A juvenile child at the home and two other children who later arrived from school were all placed in the woman’s care, the chief said.

Quiring said his officers and the drug task force have combined in an ongoing drug investigation that started early this year. Both women were taken to the Washington County Jail in Stillwater.

Their names are not being released until formal charging is completed.
