This year’s Region 4 FFA Discussion Meet winner is Kathleen Miron of the Forest Lake FFA Chapter. She is the daughter of Fran and Mary Ann Miron, Hugo. Runner-up in the competition was Logan Romines of the Forest Lake FFA. He is the son of John and Susan Romines, Wyoming. Regional FFA Discussion Meet winners from across the state will compete at the Minnesota State FFA Convention on Sunday, April 27 at the Continuing Education Center Building on the University of Minnesota campus. Topics of discussion for this year’s event included: In light of recent decisions affecting private property, what steps should be taken to secure the rights of property owners? What role will U.S. agriculture play in responding to today’s global issues? What is the public perception of the family farm and how does that perception impact future agricultural policy discussion? In today’s environment, with the increasing demand for water, how does rural America maintain a strong voice among competitors? Students participated in two rounds and were judged on their basic knowledge of critical farm issues and their ability to exchange ideas and information in a setting aimed at cooperative problem solving.
