The Wyoming Township Annual Meeting was called to order following the closing of the voting polls on Tuesday, March 11. Frank Storm was elected moderator and the minutes from March 7th and August 28th, 2007 meetings were accepted.

Board member Mark Utecht announced the accomplishment this past year of the passage of the Tree Preservation Ordinance.

Park board member Shelly Elmore reminded attendees that the Annual Easter Egg Hunt for ages three to nine will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 22 at Sunrise Park in Wyoming. There will be prize drawings for children ages 10 and younger, plus an egg toss for all ages.

The egg hunt will go on whether rain or shine.

The town board authorized a budget of $10,000 to enter into service contracts with qualified non-profit service organizations in 2008.  Another vote was given to fund youth recreation programs in the amount of $2000.

A motion was made to set a gopher bounty at $2 per pair of feet with a cap of $1500.

However, some residents questioned this to be a frivolous budget item. According to records, $136.was paid out in 2007, an affordable amount for the budget so it was decided to pass the motion.

The official newspapers were designated as the Forest Lake Times and the Chisago County Press.

The ballots for election of Clerk/Treasurer and Seat E on the Supervisory Board were counted and revealed Betsy Houle to be re-elected Clerk/Treasurer and Mark Utecht re-elected as Board member. Twenty-seven ballots were cast.

Utecht defeated Frank Storm by a 12-11 margin. Storm’s votes came by way of write-in. Houle, who was unopposed, received 24 votes.

The town board voted to continue the meeting to August 26th for the purpose of setting the 2009 budget and levy.

However, resident Russ Goudge questioned the date because of the upcoming hearing on the annexation on March 25th. Therefore, it was decided to amend the date to May 27 and address finances for 2009 at that time.
