A Forest Lake man suffered serious injuries early Wednesday when he was trampled by a cow that became enraged when farm workers attempt to separate the cow from a recently born calf. Forest Lake police and medical personnel were called to 10066 N. 180th St. shortly after 7 a.m. where they found Mario Lopez, 42, injured. Lopez was attempting to separate the cow and calf when the cow became enraged and pinned Lopez to a fence causing serious injuries, police said.
Lopez was transported by North Air Care to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale with a possible broken back, police said. Lopez was pulled from the barnyard by a second farm worker who was on the scene, police said. The small farm is located east of US-61 in Forest Lake on the city's southern border with Hugo.
