The start of the synchronized swim season revealed no big shockers on Tuesday, March 25, as Stillwater dominated Forest Lake, and Forest Lake crushed Columbia Heights.
The Rangers blanked the Hylanders 29-0 in both the varsity and junior varsity figures competition, but lost 22-9 (varsity) and 27-2 (jayvee) to the Stillwater Ponies.
“The meet went great and I am proud of how the girls swam,” Forest Lake head coach Laura Davison said.
Freshman McKinzie Chelberg and junior Heidi Merrier were the top two performers for the Rangers, in what Davison feels might turn into some fun competition during the remainder of the season.
Chelberg was the No. 1 swimmer against Columbia Heights and came in fourth against Stillwater. Merrier was right behind Chelberg both times, earning a second and a fifth.
“It was very close, with McKinzie beating Heidi by a tenth of a point,” Davison said.
With Spring Break, Forest Lake had some time off before they head to Osseo on Tuesday, April 8.
