Forest Lake FFA members and advisors traveled to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted High School for the annual Region IV banquet and awards program where the group was recognized as the region’s top chapter and were awarded the Dahlberg trophy for 2007-2008. This acknowledgment was a result of the leadership, involvement, professional development activities, and career exploration efforts. The chapter also received the W. J. Kortesmaki award for being the most improved chapter and was recognized as the most active in career development event activities. “This group of FFA members is energetic, active, motivated, and have worked together as a team,” said FFA advisor and agricultural education department chair Bob Marzolf. The application will now advance to state competition during the Minnesota FFA Convention this month. Other highlights from the banquet included: Nicky Johnson, 3rd in talent; Alex Murdock, 3rd in the reporter’s contest; Erin Daninger, 2nd in advanced floral design; Hannah Taylor, 3rd in novice floral design; 1st place, treasurer’s book; 2nd place website; 3rd place scrapbook; 3rd place secretary’s book.
