FLAFA's monthly meeting
The Forest Lake Fastpitch Association (FLAFA) holds its monthly meeting on the third Thursday of each month at Stella's on 97 at 7 p.m. The next meeting is Thursday, April 17.
Get your piece of 'the Rock'
Castlewood Golf Course, also known as "the Rock," has openings for teams or individuals who would like to find a place on a team. Co-manager Don Ringstmeyer says they still have room for couples in their Monday Night Fun League. Some spots are available for the Wednesday night Men's League as well as Thursday morning's Senior Men's League. Practice rounds started this week. For additional information, call 651-464-6233. League fees include approximately 20 weeks of golf, MGA handicap, weekly prizes and the annual banquet.

Sports Complex groundbreaking
The Board of Directors for the Forest Lake Sports Complex has announced a groundbreaking ceremony and party for Saturday, April 19. The official ceremony begins at 10 a.m., with members of the Forest Lake Area Athletic Association, high school athletes and city council members on hand for a photograph.
The groundbreaking party is also April 19, beginning at 7 p.m. and held at the VFW, 556 SW 12th Street, Forest Lake. The party is open to the public and costs $15 per individual or $25 per couple. Free appetizers and cash bar, with Tati providing entertainment.
OMC hosts 5K run/walk
Spring is just around the corner and a great way to kick start your fitness goals is at the Healthy Heart 5K Run/Walk, hosted by Osceola Medical Center. This event is April 19. Participants will take a scenic route through the community of Osceola starting at the high school. Individuals, families and teams are invited to participate. The run/walk is hosted by OMC, a critical access hospital and clinic along the St. Croix River in Osceola. Registration starts at 7 a.m.; the race starts at 8:30 a.m. Awards will be presented on or around 9:30 a.m. Entry fees are $15 by April 4 and $20 after April 4 and on race day.
Proceeds of the event will go to the Think Pink Campaign, which is raising money for the region’s first digital mammography unit. The Think Pink Campaign is sponsored by the Osceola Community Health Foundation. Upcoming FLBA meeting
The Forest Lake Baseball Association's Parent Meeting is Tuesday, April 22. If you are the parent of a player (ages 10-14) who successfully made a traveling team, you must attend this meeting. It is being held at 6:30 p.m. at the Forest Lake American Legion. Any questions, call Dale Hager at 651-433-5288.
YSB Pool tourney coming soon
Join the Youth Service Bureau at Stars and Strikes Entertainment Center in Wyoming as they rack ‘em up and let ‘em roll at another YSB Pool Tourney for Youth and Adult Pairs. Youth in grades 7-12 and an adult partner are invited to participate in this best of three, double-elimination pool tournament on Saturday, April 26. Teams of two will begin tournament play at 10 a.m.
Pre-Registration is required by Friday, April 18. The fee for this program is $18 per team, which includes tournament pool play, structured brackets and competitions, and prize trophies to the top three finishing teams. Pop and food will be available to participants at an additional expense. Please note that this is a smoke and alcohol-free event. Group size is limited and no refunds will be granted after the registration deadline. A limited number of partial scholarships may also be available. Register early to ensure your place in the tournament.

FLAAA meets on 2nd Tuesday

Wildflower walk at O’Brien
Join William O’Brien State Park on Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m. for a stroll along the scenic St. Croix River as they look for beautiful signs of spring. Hepatica, Bloodroot, Marsh Marigolds and many other wildflowers will be highlighted on the walk. This mile and a half stroll will begin in the picnic grounds area. The programs are free but a State Park vehicle permit is needed to enter any Minnesota State Park. William O’Brien is located 2 miles north of Marine-On-St. Croix, MN on highway 95.
YSB Golf Tournament, June 20
The sixth annual YSB Golf Tournament benefiting the Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau (YSB) will be held Friday, June 20, at Castlewood Golf Course (aka “The Rock”), beginning with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The tournament will feature a hole-in-one contest courtesy of sponsor Whitaker Buick Pontiac GMC.
All local golfers are invited to play in the fundraising tournament, which is a four-person scramble format. Top prizes include $400 cash to the first-place team, $200 cash to the second-place team, and six additional $25 prizes for course events. In addition, a raffle will be held for a variety of prizes, including a membership at The Rock, full-week pass tickets to the 3M Championship PGA golf tournament in Blaine, Tanners Brook golf rounds, Twins tickets and many other great prizes.
Early-bird registration cost is $75 per person or $300 per four-person team if registered by May 20, or $80 per person or $320 per team after that date. The cost includes nine holes of golf, two power carts and dinner at Stella’s on 97 following the event. Separate dinner tickets are available for additional guests for $20 each.
Only one player on each team may have a handicap of five or under and teams must have a combined team handicap of over 24 (nine-hole handicap). Mulligans (one per golfer) and Eagles (one per team) will be available for purchase.
