Synchronized swimming head coach Laura Davison was surprised Forest Lake’s McKinzie Chelberg didn’t take first place in their figures meet at Osseo on April 8, but the Rangers still won, 17-12.
Insert two more of Davison’s top swimmers in Heidi Merrier and Dianna Schave (on the European leg of the Forest Lake band’s tour), and the Rangers would have had more than the five-point differential.
“Our girls did a great job against Osseo. There was a new face in the top seven with Allysa Bergman,” Davison said.
“Our junior varsity swimmers also performed well (a 17-12 loss), and their overall scores went up from the first meet (of the season).”
The team was supposed to be in Grand Rapids on Saturday, but the competition was cancelled because of the forecast for heavy snow.
“We are hoping to reschedule the meet for next week, but are waiting to hear back from the school,” Davison shared.
Forest Lake was in Stillwater on Tuesday afternoon, and have Columbia Heights in town on April 22.
