Blessing of the Bikes rally May 3 in FL PDF Print
Wednesday, 23 April 2008
The Forest Lake Lions Club has announced plans to coordinate a Blessing of the Bikes road rally for Saturday, May 3. Participating motorcyclists will have the option of choosing from among three mapped routes to ride for the day. Each route will total about 150 miles, mostly on roads through western Wisconsin.

Each route will include planned stops at some of the Dairyland State’s renowned cheese factories and shops.

All routes will begin Saturday morning from Lakeside Memorial Park in Forest Lake, and all riders will be welcomed back from their routes Saturday afternoon at the Stars & Strikes Entertainment Center, 5063 273rd St., in Wyoming.

Forest Lake area clergy will greet all riders at 10 a.m., May 3 at Lakeside Memorial Park, and wish them safe travels that day and throughout the riding season.

After the Blessing, riders will be sent off on their routes beginning at 10:30 a.m. It is estimated that with the planned stops, the first riders will be finishing their routes and arriving at Stars & Strikes at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The party at the riders’ end destination will feature food and fun, bingo and other games. Rider safety on their departures and returns this day will be assisted by members of the Forest Lake and Wyoming police departments.

Same-day registration for the Forest Lake Lions Club’s Blessing of the Bikes road rally will begin at 8:30 a.m., May 3 at Lakeside Memorial Park.

However, riders who would wish to register early for the ride will receive a discount if they should complete and submit their registration forms by April 3 – one month before the road rally.

Riders choosing to register before April 3 will pay $25 per bike, plus $15 per extra rider (checks only for early registration – no cash). Additional registrations taken at the park May 3 will cost $30 per bike and $20 per extra rider (cash or check accepted). Checks should be made payable to the Forest Lake Lions.

Registration forms have been made available at www.forestlakelions.org, www.cyclematters.com and www.lets-ride.com, as well as at some select area businesses.

Proceeds from the event will support the Minnesota Veterans Home, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life program, Linwood and Family Pathways area food shelves and the Forest Lake Helping Hand.
