The traveling road show that is the Forest Lake track program had the girls in White Bear Lake on April 15, and then down to Apple Valley for a true team invitational on Saturday.
Whereas the meet at White Bear was warm and windy, the Rangers had different conditions to deal with on April 19.
“The weather was great in Apple Valley...as we got into the bus on the way home,” head coach Eric Kaluza shared.
“We got some big meet experience with 16 teams at the meet.”
The long jump crew of KC Pringle, Jessica Springer and Jessie Ramberg did very well when their three totals were combined, and all of the pole vaulters topped eight feet.
“The 2-milers looked solid, finishing strong in their races (Elizabeth Peterson, Sarah Nase), and the sprinters went head to head with some of the state’s best,” Kaluza noted, after Forest Lake took ninth place out of 16 schools.
At White Bear, the girls had a number of nice performances, and Kaluza felt the squad is showing signs of gaining more experience.
The veteran Kristie Miller had an outstanding day, as her time in the 200 meters and her efforts in the triple jump were both state honor qualifying marks.
“The high jump quartet gained another member, with Shelby Simons attaining 4-10 in her very first meet,” Kaluza said.
Forest Lake was at Mounds View and Eagen on Tuesday, before heading to Roseville this Thursday. A select few will compete at the Hamline Elite on Friday, April 25.
