Menards receives regional award |

Menards, which operates a store in Fores Lake, has received special recognition and the best regional retailer award at the 2008 Energy Star Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C. Menards was selected for the award from more than 12,000 Energy Star partner organizations for their commitment to energy efficiency. Menards, a partner in the program since 2003, was recognized for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by educating consumers and team memmbers about energy-efficient products. Menards integrated Energy Star into all facets of its marketing strategy, from product slection and in-store signage to all forms of advertising. Based in Eau Clair, WI, Menards operates 235 stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Energy Star was first introduced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 1992 as a voluntary partnership to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
