Kathleen Miron, a student at Forest Lake High School, claimed second place in the seventh annual FFA/Minnesota Farm Bureau Discussion Meet. Twelve regional FFA winners from across the state competed at the Minnesota State FFA Convention on Sunday, April 27 at the Continuing Education Conference Center Building on the University of Minnesota campus.. She is the daughter of Fran and Mary Ann Miron of Hugo. Justin Kramer of the St. Charles FFA Chapter won the competition. Logan Romines of the Forest Lake FFA Chapter and Jamie Seedorf of United South Central FFA Chapter also advanced to the final round. Topics of discussion included: In light of recent decisions affecting private property, what steps should be taken to secure the rights of property owners?, What role will U.S. agriculture play in responding to today’s global issues?, What is the public perception of the family farm and how does that perception impact future agricultural policy discussion?, and In today’s environment, with the increasing demand for water, how does rural America maintain a strong voice among competitors?
