During the Forest Lake girls track and field meet at Roseville on Tuesday, April 29, head coach Eric Kaluza said the Rangers had been ramping up the training.
He admitted that putting the girls through more intense workouts might not have his popularity at its highest right now, but the results are starting to reveal themselves.
“We continue to see positives from the jumps and pole vault,” he told his team.
Taylor Brett’s potential in the pole vault is undeniable, and the “horizontal” jumpers are steadily improving.
All of this led to Saturday’s Hamline Relays, where sprinters like Kristie Miller clocked one of Forest Lake’s all-time best in the 100, and Rae Moen moved up to seventh place in the 200 meters on the state’s honor roll.
“Courtney O’Donnell and Gina Lange had personal best’s in the shot, and our high jump crew had three in the top nine,” Kaluza said.
“Our high jump team is one of the best in the conference, and the sprinters are getting faster each race. The distance team is deeper than last year and it’s showing.”
