With Forest Lake High School’s spring play, “The Mousetrap,” finally showing, the cast and crew alike are hoping each performance is better than the previous.
Made up of eight performers and more than 20 crew members, the show is a suspenseful murder mystery that is well worth the admission — $4 for students and seniors, $6 for adults and $10 for patrons.
Before making its way to FLHS’s theater department, “The Mousetrap” was the longest running production of any kind in the history of British theater since 1958.
Written by Agatha Christie, the intricate plot will keep you on the edge of your seat.
“I want the students to get the experience of working with a mystery, and I want the audience to be engaged the whole time,” said Andrew Waldron, director of the spring play.
The cast includes Nick Bergantine as Major Metcalf, Bre’Elle Erickson as Sergeant Trotter, Derik Iverson as Giles Ralston, Samuel Kolbow as Christopher Wren, Laura Lundstrom as Miss Casewell, Andrew Morrison as Mr. Paravicini, Kristine Shields as Mollie Ralston, and Emily Wagner as Mrs. Boyle.
“It has been several years since Forest Lake Drama has done a mystery,” said Wagner, who is the only senior performing in the production.
“It’s very rare because it takes a different range and kind of actor – one that can entertain without the use of a funny character, or even an overly dramatic plot.”
The actors have to rely solely on drama and suspense to keep the audience entertained, but they achieve this faultlessly. The cast has been practicing since early March, so they are finally ready for you to come and see the show.
After its opening weekend, the production will continue this week with show times at 7:30 p.m. this Friday and Saturday in the Forest Lake High School auditorium.
Tickets may be purchased at the door.
