Police in Wyoming are looking for help from the community to learn more about a man in a pickup who attempted to get a 14-year-old girl into his vehicle at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, May. 8.

Scott Dexter, acting chief of police, said the girl reported that a man attempted to get her into the vehicle while she was walking in the area of Goodview Park. She told police the man pulled up along side of her, opened the door and told her he would give her a ride.

Dexter said the girl ran home and called her mother who in turn called police. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

The man was described as being older with short white hair and a tan. The vehicle was described as an older red single cab pickup with a push lawn mower in the back.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Wyoming Police Department at 651-462-0577 or 651-257-4100.

FL crimes

Burglars and thieves remain at work in Forest Lake.

Two businesses were the targets in crimes reported to Forest Lake police this week.

McCarron Lumber, 23840 Lake Blvd. N., reported the loss of 68 rolls of housewrap valued at just over $5000. The business told city police the loss of merchandise took place during the past 30 days with materials taken from a storage building.

On Monday of this week, the business reported the loss of 35 rolls of Tyvek housewrap. 36 rolls of nine-foot prime wrap and 24 rolls of 10-foot prime wrap.

A theft of scrap metal was also reported on Monday by W.T. Carlson Manufacturing Co., 795 SW 15th St.

The company told police that four steel bins with a combined weight of 4000 pounds were stolen during the weekend. The bins were located on the southeast corner of the building and contained scrap metal.

Chief of Police Clark Quiring said the thieves likely needed a forklift or a flatbed truck with a winch to lift the bins which each weighed about 1000 pounds.

Store employee hurt

An employee of Wal-Mart, 200 SW 12th St.,  received second-degree burns after being injured by a chemical spill on Wednesday, May 7. She was taken to the   Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

Police and medical personnel were called to the store at 3:26 p.m. on May 7 after a 43-year-old female employee of the pharmacy department received burns when a bottle containing liquid phenolliqueifed spilled on her hands and face, Chief Quiring said.

Quiring said the employee was cleaning when the liquid chemical fell from a shelf and spilled on her hands and face. He said the employee was transported by ambulance to HCMC where she was treated with second-degree burns and blisters.

Other reports

In other police news:

Authorities have received yet another report of a theft of a purse from a vehicle. The latest theft came at 3:21 p.m. on Sunday.

A woman reported that a window on her car was smashed out  in the ISD 831 District Office parking lot, 6100 N. 210th St., and her purse taken. She reported the loss of $42 in cash and a host of personal items, including credit cards, check books and her driver’s license.

Correction

Last week’s report on accident victims from a two-car vehicle crash at W. Broadway Ave. and SW 12th St. incorrectly listed the victim who required hospital treatment.

A Forest Lake woman, 63, was taken to Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, not the woman from Luck, WI, as the story indicated.
