Wyoming Police Department has added new laptop computers for the city squad cars. Wyoming City Council has approved up to $7000 to purchase the brackets and consoles to mount the computers, and labor to complete the installation.
Four of the squads need all new mounting equipment according to Acting Police Chief Scott Dexter. One other car needs a different mounting bracket and a final car needs only the sliding bracket.
The department chose to have Bruce Brandenburg and Chris Hendricks install the equipment. They are Chisago County deputies who have the experience and authorization to install the equipment and can complete the work at a much lower per/hour price than some other companies.
Brandenburg has a business setting up squad cars and he and Hendricks have installed several of the systems in county squads and some of the more recent installations in city squads.
Brandenburg is a licensed dealer for the mounts and he can complete the modifications for the Wyoming cars. Dexter anticipates the work will be completed in early January 2008.
Council approved the work by a vote of 4-0. Council member Joe Zerwas did not attend the meeting.
Diamond Ridge
A large part of the 60-plus acres of the Diamond Ridge Development, west of the freeway is some type of wetland. Roads into the area to the upland parcels would be long.
The owners have decided to use part of the land as a wetland bank, selling the credits to property owners or developers to mitigate wetland loss.
On the recommendation of City Engineer Mark Erichson, council approved the Wetland Conservation Act Conditional of the wetland banking plan for ENVR credit under a conservation easement for 5.49 acres of new wetland credit (12.5 percent or 43.92 acres) and 3.06 acres of public value credit (25 percent or 12.24 acres).
Conditions for granting approval include revising vegetation plan according to the Bureau of Soil and Water Resource comments; recording and executing easement documents; and placement of conservation signs at designated locations.
Council approved the action by a 4-0 vote.
Other actions
Discussion of the proposed personnel policy was again tabled and placed on the agenda for the council meeting Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008.
This will provide more time for Council member Blake Tiedeman to review the documents with City Administrator Craig Mattson and allow Zerwas to be in attendance for the discussion.
Council approved the sale of the surplus 1996 John Deere Gator 6 X 4 utility Vehicle to Tom Griffith Sod, Oakdale. The winning bid was $2610. The two bids for the equipment were both over $2000.
By a 4-0 vote, council approved the issue of on-saleîand off-sale liquor licenses for Casey’s General Store, Rick’s Liquor, Wyoming Shell and Cornerstone Prime & Pub.
Chisago County does the compliance checks on businesses and there have been no violations, according to Dexter.
